Merck Serono’s easypod™ has won the Gold Medical Design Excellence Award (MDEA), a medical technology premier award.
Judges of the 2007 MDEA praised the innovative new device, designed to help patients administer a subcutaneous daily injection, reliably and in just three simple key steps. As the dose is pre-set for each patient by the physician or nurse, the risk of misdialing the dose is reduced and no daily adjustment is needed. It also tracks the number of doses administered, allowing physicians to monitor patient adherence to therapy.
