What is easypod™ ?
easypod™ is the newest addition to Merck Serono's family of growth hormone (GH) delivery devices. With unique features such as preset dosing, assisted needle attachment and dose confirmation, easypod™ makes daily injections easy and gives you peace of mind that you are injecting correctly.
What are easypod™ benefits?
easypod™ combines all the benefits of autoinjection with intelligent electronics so that you can carry out your daily GH treatment in just 3 simple key steps. Your doctor or nurse will preset the dose of Merck Serono’s growth hormone and adjust the comfort settings to suit you so that all you have to do is attach the needle, push the injection button and detach the needle.
How does easypod™ work?
Your device will come with lithium batteries that can be replaced by Merck Serono. The battery status function shows you how much power remains in the batteries and lets you know when they should be changed. To save power, easypod™ automatically turns itself off if you have not done anything with it for longer than 10 minutes.
Can easypod™ be used with other growth hormone therapies
easypod™ has been developed and validated for exclusive use with Merck Serono’s recombinant human growth hormone.
How often do I have to prepare Merck Serono’s growth hormone using click.easy®?
The vial of powdered Merck Serono growth hormone should be dissolved in the cartridge with the diluent provided, and stored in the fridge. This preparation should last between 1 and 28 days (21 for US and Canada) but this will depend on the weight of your child which is used to calculate the dose of growth hormone that he or she needs. Usually, at the start of treatment, the cartridge lasts around 3 weeks. Thanks to easypod™’s on-screen display, you will always know how much growth hormone remains in the cartridge. What’s more, easypod™ will tell you when and how the cartridge should be changed.
What if I miss a dose?
Missing one dose of growth hormone will not affect the treatment outcome. However, if you miss more than one dose or miss doses on a regular basis (once a week or once every 2 weeks) results will be less favourable than treatment with 100% adherence. The integrated injection log that is unique to easypod™gives you an overview of which injections you have missed, helping you to keep up with your GH treatment.
Can I take my easypod™ with me wherever I go?
easypod™can travel anywhere with you as long as you follow a few simple carrying instructions. For travelling short distances, it is recommended that easypod™(still containing the cartridge) be placed in the storage box which should then be transported in an appropriate cooling bag. This will keep your Merck Serono growth hormone at a temperature of 2-8°C/36-46°F. You should consult your doctor before travelling long distances.
How should I store my easypod™?
When it has been loaded with a cartridge of Merck Serono’s growth hormone, easypod™ should be stored in its storage box in the refrigerator. Place it near to the front or in the door of the refrigerator so that it does not get too cold. If easypod™is stored at very low temperatures you should leave it standing at room temperature for several minutes before turning it on. easypod™is not waterproof so always store it in its box in a dry part of the refrigerator.
